 A triangle is a closed figure bounded by the three line segments.

Two Ways to Classify Triangles:
l  By Their Sides
l  By Their Angles

Classifying Triangles
 by Their Sides

Scalene Triangles
l  No sides are the same length

Isosceles Triangles
l  At least two sides are the same length

Equilateral Triangle
l  All sides are equal

Classifying Triangles

 By Their Angles
l  Acute
l  Right
l  Obtuse

Acute Triangles
l  Acute triangles have three acute angles

Right Triangles
l  Right triangles have one right angle

Obtuse Triangles

l  Obtuse triangles have one obtuse angle

Angle property of a triangle:
  • The sum of angles of a triangle = 180 degree
           An exterior angle of a triangle =sum of its two interior opposite angles.
